My Aunt Juanita suffered with side effects of chemotherapy in 2013, she required home intensive care for the last 4 months of her life. She needed weekly blood transfusions, medication mgmt., assistance with activities of daily living, seeing the oncologist weekly, sometimes more, chemo everyday for one week a month and the list goes on. I was able to keep her comfortably at home and manage her there until she passed with her family & friends with her and others stopping through when they were able to.

For 3+ years I then helped the Clores' come home from Assisted Living so that they could remain in their home and maybe Dave's confusion would be minimized for a while since he could sit on the back porch and enjoy watching his cows. I planned & prepared their meals, managed their meds, took them to doctor and other appointments, did laundry, took Jeanette grocery shopping, to church and she got to go to the monthly bulletin workdays at church.

Auggie was 94 and had spent a month in the hospital just prior to me meeting him. The family found him on the floor and thought he had had a stroke when in fact it turned out to be a diabetic issue. After two days comatose and a month in the hospital he was released to go home. He needed finger-stick blood sugars morning & night and a daily insulin shot. Because he required more than 4 hours of professional contact a week, his doctor and insurance hinted about nursing home placement. Anyone who knows Auggie, knows that would have killed him. With just a little help from me, taking him to his doctor visits, staying in close "My Chart" contact with his doctor, his care was fine tuned, Auggie remained in the comfort of his home, hopped on a tractor almost daily since the hospital took his license away, went to the bank, shopping, played euchre and even went to the fair just prior to passing. He did it his way.

For the past year & a half, I have been helping Seb & Agnes with a little home health care so that they can continue to enjoy the comfort of their own home. Nothing crazy or outlandish just some basic nursing care and they are able to remain in their home with all of their children within 20 feet of their house. They get RN level contact daily, assessed when needed & I comunicate with their doctor through "My Chart" to keep their care fine tuned. Neither of them had to be hospitalized in 2018...what a blessing!

The Spring of 2017 I helped Irene bring her husband Bobby home from the hospital for Hospice Care for he had a fast growing brain cancer that was inoperable. As they are retired teachers & only one nurse in the family, of course they wanted him to have the best End-Of-Life care possible & they had insured themselves for just that. In addition to the Hospice Nurse seeing him once a week & a Hospice Aide twice a week. He had his daughter, the nurse, there 24/7 and I saw him everyday. They lived under the umbrella of comfort that they could call me during the night & she did a couple of times. Help's Right Here being involved just afforded Irene the comfort of much needed breaks to get personal and household things taken care of without a scheduling hassel.

Additionally I assist two Veterans up on East Bend Road and a Veteran and his wife in Covington as well as a few others.. If donations increase enough to have an operating budget, I can hire more help and be able to assist more individuals where the insurance and hospital systems are letting them down.
